Speaking 3 Times in One Day

Thursday I had the opportunity to speak to 3 local chapters of the American Business Networks/Maximize Local Networking (ABN/ML Networking). I gave a 15 minute talk titled “What is Attracting the Hackers”. The talk centers on the data anyone has, why someone may want it, and some precautions that any of us can take to lower our risks.

The first chapter meets in the Ballantyne area of Charlotte at 7:30 AM. Since this is on the south side of the county and I live on the North side, I left home at 6 AM. With it raining that morning I was glad I did. I arrived at 7 AM and that gave me time to get ready, find out where I was on the program agenda, and meet some of the people in the group. I made some good contacts.

One contact was made because I had on my eWomenNetwork pendant. She recognized it and said she is also in eWomenNetwork. I will look for her at the next meeting. I wore the pendant because I got this speaking engagement because Mary Coffey heard me at the eWomenNetwork event in May.

Then on to Fort Mill in South Carolina. The group meets at 11:30 until 1 PM. I had a little time to see Fort Mill, take a break, and work on some other items. This was a bigger group. Again, I made some contacts that I think will be helpful in the future.

On to the SouthPark group that meets at 3:30 PM. I had time to run into SouthPark. The only thing that is the same since that mall opened is the fountain and even that has been modified. This group is smaller. I was told that I could speak first since they had some other items to discuss. That was fine with me.

Since a few people were at all 3 groups, I changed the opening and added some different info in a couple of spots. It still got the point across. I enjoyed the questions that came after.

I learned a lot doing this. I hope the attendees received some valuable information. Thank you to Mary Coffey and Alex Maginnis for giving me this opportunity.
