I am doing what I think a lot of people are doing today. I am following the story on the Chilean miners. I watched as the first 2 rescuers went down and the first 2 miners came up. I checked again this morning when I woke up. I keep checking to see how many are above ground. I am amazed at all of the tools that have been used to make this happen. The drilling was apparently very technical. The wheel looks simple. However, I know that is not a rope but a cable and very strong. I know it is being controlled by people and machines. It is a great tribute to all of the people around the world that helped with this.
The courage of the people of Chile is also being seen. A great example is that first rescuer. I do not know if I would have been brave enough to get into that capsule and go down in that mine. If those were my colleagues I guess I would not even think about it – just go.
The families have endured 69 days and now this. I heard the woman in the US say that the 4 days on one here seemed like weeks. I would like to hear more about how they have lived before the cave-in. It would help to explain where they get their strength and may contain some great lessons for all of us.
Most of all are those 33 miners. I went for my walk this morning and one neighbor commented on that capsule only being 2 feet wide. I said what is 2 feet for 15 minutes when you have been trapped so far down for 69 days? I think these men serve as a great example to all people all around the world in showing their strength.
At this writing 14 are up. Thank you to the government of Chile for letting us all see this.
